I publish an online newspaper in the Katahdin area of Maine, in the United States, with an average readership of 2,000 to 3,000 people per day, and as many as 18,000 on some days.

While much of our publication is regional, or oriented toward people who have an interest in this particular part of the state of Maine, we have started an International section, in which I hope to have participation from people from other parts of the world, as a way of acquainting my readers with ideas, cultures, and faiths that may be foreign to their experience.

I am hoping to find someone who might be willing to write such a column.

The Magic City Morning Star is a volunteer effort, as we do not charge our readers and our advertising barely pays our own costs. But we do allow our writers to exercise a high degree of discretion in the content of their articles, given the limits of the law and with consideration for the interest of our readers; and we do provide a forum in which a writer can reach people who might not otherwise be exposed to whatever it is that the writer might have to say.

I don't have a strong idea as to what I am looking for in an International column, except that I would like to attract people from outside of the United States, and I would hope that, through his (or her) columns, our readers might come to better understand someone who he would not otherwise have been exposed to. While this is not a religious column, insofar as the author's faith is a part of his being, I would expect that the reader would learn about the Islamic faith. In other words, the author should feel free to discuss his faith as long as his personality is not lost in the verbiage.

The author should also feel perfectly free to discuss any differences that he might have with United States government policies, again so long as his personality shines through the rhetoric.

Over time, I would like for my readers to come to feel as if they know you as a person, given the limitations of the written word. What is it like to live where you live, wherever that may be? What was it like to be a child there? What is your day like? What do you care most about, and why?

As an online publication, there are no deadlines or article size limitations to content with. Articles are posted as they are received. Regular columnists need not be regular. While some will submit new columns every week, others are more sporadic, although active columns should have new content at least once a month.

In my International section, my plan is to limit columns to one writer per country but I might entertain other ideas.

If anyone is interested, or would like to discuss this further, please contact me at editor@magic-city-news.com

If this sort of a message is not appreciated or wanted in this forum, please accept my apologies and feel free to delete it.

Hi I am into writing articles and I have intention of Writing a book soon, ther are two problems though.
I write mainly religious and some political stuff,I have databases of info on certain issues i would like to write about. However, due to family commitments I am very short of time at the moment, nevertheless with my zeal for writing and the info base and the Incoming knowledge, I intend in the near future if things go Ok, to pursue this writing ambition. Whether there is a demand for religious documentation on your publication.I mean comparative studies of different religions, reviews of books released on controversial religious issues and the Current world affairs and political situations.
May be I can bear you in mind and keep in touch once I have time and have some articles ready. I may need to have a look at your online publication to see whether I can fit in there.
In the mean time I bid you farewell.
Peace be with you.

I feel fortunate to have two people from this forum volunteer to write for the Magic City Morning Star. The first article has already been published, in two parts, and can be found here: http://magic-city-news.com/cat_index_58.shtml

Thank you very much and indeed, may peace be with you.
