Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said:

A good or bad companion is like one who carries musk and one who blows the bellow. The one who carries musk may give you some, or you may buy some from him, or you may feel a fragrance from him; but the one who blows the bellows might burn your clothing, or you may feel a bad smell from him.

When I first received my hard copy of the Qur'an this weekend, I opened it, and this is the verse that greeted me:

Verily, this Qur'an guides to that which is most just and right and gives glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah and His Messenger Muhammad), who work deeds of rightousness that they shall have a great reward.

--Surah 17, Al-Isra, verse 9

Just found that sort of interesting. Thanks Sky.

Allâh! Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter . And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursî extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. [This Verse 2:255 is called Ayat-ul-Kursî.] (Al-Baqarah 2:255)

SubhanAllah!!...

Thanks for sharing this brother...that was very touching...it made me feel like getting the Quran , to open it randomly and see what verse would greet me...:)

Jazaak Allah Kul Khayr (May Allah reward you greatly)

as for the verse i'd like to share its in Surah Fatir verse 3:

O mankind! Remember the Grace of Allâh upon you! Is there any creator other than Allâh who provides for you from the sky (rain) and the earth? Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). How then are you turning away (from Him)?

And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour.
And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small." (Al-Isra 17:23-24)

Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: The world is sweet and green (alluring) and verily Allah is going to install you as vicegerent in it in order to see how you act. So avoid the allurement of women: verily, the first trial for the people of Isri'll was caused by women. And in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Ibn Bashshar the words are:" So that He should see how you act."

Do not learn knowledge for three (things): To amaze and confound the foolish, to argue with the learned and to make peoples faces turn towards you. (But) seek what is with Allaah with your hearts and actions, since only that will remain and whatever is besides it will go

Narrated Abu Huraira:

I said: "O Allah's Apostle! Who will be the luckiest person, who will gain your intercession on the Day of Resurrection?" Allah's Apostle said: O Abu Huraira! "I have thought that none will ask me about it before you as I know your longing for the (learning of) Hadiths. The luckiest person who will have my intercession on the Day of Resurrection will be the one who said sincerely from the bottom of his heart "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah."

Assalamu alaykum --

This happened to play recently while I was driving, listening to the Qur'an on cassette, and it has stayed with me for days now:

Therefore, when you are free (from your daily tasks), devote your time to the labor (of worship), and turn all your attention toward your Rabb. (94:7-8)

(In the cassette I have, the English is rendered as "turn all your attention, and your will, toward your Rabb." My Arabic isn't good enough to tell you if that's the more accurate rendering, but it sure left an impression....)

from the guidance of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam is his saying:

‘Hasten to do good deeds before any of these seven things reach you: poverty that makes you overlook everything else; wealth that makes one transgress (the rights of Allaah); a destructive illness; old age; a sudden death; the Antichrist and the coming of the Hour which is more bitter.’

The Master Supplication for begging forgiveness

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said in his noble hadith:

“The superior way of begging forgiveness is that a Muslim says: O Allah! You are my Lord; there is no god but You, You have created me, and I am Your servant and I hold to Your Covenant and Promise as much as I can; I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done: I acknowledge Your Favour upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none forgives sins except You, glory be to You.”

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) teaches us the supplication of eating and drinking:

“When any of you eats, he should pronounce the Name of Allah, the Most Exalted, and if he forgets to pronounce the Name of Allah, the Most Exalted, at the beginning, he should say, ‘In the Name of Allah at the beginning and at the end of it.’”

The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said in another hadith:

“When any of you eats, he should eat with his right hand. And when he drinks, he should drink with his right hand, for Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand.”

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) teaches us the supplication that should be uttered at drinking water:

“When any of you drinks water he should say, ‘Glory be to the One Who gave us sweet water by His Mercy and did not give us saline bitter water by our sins.’”

Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever Allah's Apostle ordered the Muslims to do something, he used to order them deeds which were easy for them to do, (according to their strength endurance). They said, "O Allah's Apostle! We are not like you. Allah has forgiven your past and future sins." So Allah's Apostle became angry and it was apparent on his face. He said, "I am the most Allah fearing, and know Allah better than all of you do."
