Dear All,
I am writing this to ask for your help. I need volunteers with perfect english (and who could also understand arabic well) for a certain mission. it is editing and proof reading lectures translated from Arabic to english for the young preacher called mostafa Hosny. Please find below a summary that will inform you about the group:

Mostafa Hosny Translation Group

• The Preacher Mostafa Hosny:
He is a young preacher who performed a program on Iqraa called "Amma Ba3d". He is like Prof Amr Khaled having a very simple and nice way in preaching. His website is:
http://www.mostafahosny.net/

• The translation group and how it started:
Mostafa Hosny gives lectures in a Mosque in Heliopolis called "Yusuf Alsahaby". The series of lectures are entitled "Knowing Allah-The lost treasure". These episodes are mainly discussing the last two parts of the Holy Qur'an (Parts 29 and 30). The lectures go through each chapter trying to discuss it and relate every single event in it to our lives.

The lectures were all in Arabic in the mosque. Then, they thought of publishing the episodes on the net in Arabic to be available to those who cant attend the lectures there. So, few members started a group on the net to publish the episodes there. Here is the link for the group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mostafa_hosny/

By visiting this link, you can have an idea about the lectures in Arabic. You will also notice that they are all in colloquial Arabic as they write the lectures as they are lectured by Mostafa Hosny.

Then they thought of translating the lectures to English to be published on the group. Here is the link for the published translated lectures:
http://mustafahosni.com/node/61

You can also find in this link the audio lectures:
http://mustafahosni.com/node/62

This was just a brief summary about the group and how it started.

• The Nature of work with the English Translation group:
When we receive new volunteers who are willing to work as translators, we send them part of a lecture to translate along with a translation guideline to follow so that the lecture will be exactly as we want it to be. In case the volunteer passes the exam, We send him/her a model lecture to read and to have an idea about the final form of the lecture. We don’t give volunteers deadlines to make things easy for them as we are still willing to have more volunteers with us. Then when the lecture is submitted by the volunteer, it passes through an editing and proof reading phase to be published after that on the website.

• The fields we are willing to have volunteers in are:

1. Proof readers and editors:For this we need professional people commanding English and Arabic language. Their mission will be editing the lectures submitted by the volunteers and correcting all the translation as well as the grammatical and punctuation mistakes. We are badly in need for volunteers to help us in this field as we only have one doing this job. So this will be a priority in our needs.

2. Professional Translators:
We already have got translators but having perfect professional ones will be great to give a lift to the group. These translators should be aware of the colloquial Arabic as the lectures as I mentioned before are written in colloquial Arabic. Their mission of course will be translating lectures from Arabic to English as according to the translation guideline sent to them (attached)

3. Volunteers to search for Hadiths and Qur'anic verses in English:
Their mission will be searching for the English translation of the Hadiths and Quranic verses in the Arabic Lectures and write them down in a separate word document for the translators to use. This mission can be done by the translator while translating the lecture but sometimes translators don’t find some Hadiths or Quranic verses, so we will assign this mission to the volunteers interested in this field. However, if we have volunteers interested in doing this job only, they are welcomed.

4. Volunteers to write down the Arabic audio lectures:
This of course doesn’t need any English skills. It just needs patience. Their mission will be writing down the audio lectures in Arabic in a word document to be ready for translation.

Note: Our main need in fact is for proof readers and editors.

As you know, this mission needs someone with perfect english so that the translted stuff will be fine and ready to be published in right perfect english. And the problem we are facing now is that we are having many translated lectures that cant be published coz they still need to be edited...so anyone who is interested in this, please tell me so that i can take action

looking forward to hear from you

Thanks in advance

Dear Nour of islam
first of all, thanks a lot for the link and for your help. What i wrote above in fact is a summary for the whole work of the group and all the vaccancies there. But the main thing we are in need for now is proof readers and editors who will help us to edit the already translated material to be published on the website.we have already many translators and i am one of them, but we do only have one proof reader and she is busy nowadays. so, i wrote this mainly seeking for proof readers. But anyway,i will try to publish it there on the forum, may be i will find proof readers

I am egyptian by the way and of course i do read arabic...thanks a lot for ur help:)

dear Nour of islam
thanks a lot dear for the link. But in fact proof reading a translated lectures needs more than spelling check as we have to edit the sentences themselves and the style of translation. if it was just for speeling,i would have done it myself and it would have been so easy for me..but proof reading needs greaaaaaaaaat patience and perfect english.

but i really do appreciate you will to help me...thanks a lot again my dear

I have a perfect understanding of English but know very little arabic. I would like to know what the Quaran has to say about mean floor directors of drop ins that wont feed the poor and want the poor to starve. I have heard that there are passages in the Quaran that say the mean floor director shouldnt be eating since he cant feed the poor. Also I dont think staff at Northpoint Womens Center should be eating since they dont care aabout feeding the poor
