View Full Version : A Program to introduce Muslims for Discussions with Christians

So, as I have said some days ago, we can start this program now. I thought the section work for Islam would be the ideal place to start this discussion.

This thread is basically to allow Muslims to understand the concept of Christianity and to answer to their claims. Those who would join this program will be in shaa allah able at the end to start having discussions with Christians in order to perform Dawah.

Nowadays, we meet and work with large group of Christians, so knowing their faith is very essential to give proper Dawah to them. We also need to be able to answer to the various different false claims that are put against Islam.

My idea basically is to ask the readers who are interested to read various different books and then we can have some small questions and answers of that book. As we finish, we go to another book and so on.

In the meantime, there will be small explanation of some terms which would help you to understand specific issues as you read the specific books.

So, the first book that we will start with is a small and short booklet by Dr. Bilal Philips. The book is "The True Religion of God"

Here is a link to download the book ==>> Click Here (http://www.islambasics.com/index.php?act=download&BID=19)

We will give sometime until everyone would be able to read the book before having a small discussion about it.

Anyone who would finish reading it, please indicate that in this post :)

Assalam alaykom wr wb,

I have just finished reading this booklet and I found it very interesting. It does already clear up some questions. I think this idea is also very interesting and I'm looking forward to read and learn more, with the result that one day I'll be able to answer some questions of non-muslims around me inshaAllah.

DjazakAllahu khairan.

OK, I guess we can start some small discussion:

According to the book, what makes Islam the true religion of God and what makes Christianity a false religion?

You should give three reasons. It is simple.

This is my answer ,hopping it is correct or at least reasonable

, The religion of Islam is not named after a person or a people, nor was it decided by a later generation of man, as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Hence, Islam does not claim to be a new religion brought by Prophet Mohammed into Arabia in the seventh century, but rather to be repression in its final form of the true religion of Almighty God, Allah, as it was originally revealed to Adam and subsequent prophets. But the names “Judaism” and “Christianity” had no divine origin or
approval. It was not until long after his departure that the name Christianity was given to Jesus’ religion.
************************************************** **

Islam, in essence, calls man away from worship of creation and invites him to worship only his Creator. He is the only one deserving of man’s worship, because it is only by His will that prayers are answered .As for Christianity , Jesus did not worship himself when he worshipped, but rather he worshipped God.
And Jesus was reported in the Gospels to have said,
“It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve Him
only.’” [Luke 4:8]

.

Islam is universally understandable and universally attainable in the past and it is going to
continue eternally to be understandable and attainable throughout the entire world .But Christianity impose conditions that have nothing to do with the relationship of man with God, such as baptism, or belief in man as a savior, or an
intermediary.

Ma shaa Allah, this was a very good and complete answer :) Well done.

Now the next question:

The book gives some verses from the Bible which shows that Jesus was not God. Please provide the verses which are mentioned in the book.

Of course this question is open for all as usual :)

''*awwabah*''

“It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve Him
only.’” [Luke 4:8]
since Jesus asked his followers to worship God ,that means he is not God ,if he was a real God he would ask his flowers to worshiped him

But on the contrary, he said:
“None of those who call me ‘Lord’ will enter the kingdom
of God, but only the one who does the will of my Father
in heaven.” [Matthew 7:21]

and his prophecy are obvious in the following verse :
“I cannot do anything of myself I judge as I hear and my
judgment is honest because I am not seeking my own
will but the will of Him who sent me.” [John 5:30]

Another verse:

“No-one knows about the day or hour, not even the
angels in heaven, not the son, but only the Father.”
[Mark 13:32]

If Jesus indeed was God, than He would have known that specific day or hour.

Good, so all the four verses from this book are given :)

Now you need to note down these verses and keep them for your record so that you can use them when you need to discuss this issue "Is Jesus God?" with a Christian.

So, does anyone else has any question from this book? If not, then in shaa Allah soon we can go to the next one :)

OK, let's now go to the next step. I was thiinking of another book, but then I thought of a better way which is a video.

The Video is Is Jesus God (http://server1.aswatalislam.net/Audios/Videos/Lectures/Ahmed%20Deedat%20-%20Debates//Ahmed%20Deedat%20-%20Is%20Jesus%20God%20(www.aswatalislam.net).rm)

It is about 51 MB, so you have to be patient to get it downloaded.

You will also need Real Player for this. If you don't have it, please download it for free from their web site (http://uk.real.com/player/?&src=ZG.uk.home.realplayer_rm_split.hd.def)
Choose Basic one because it is free :p

This video will help you to know that Jesus is not God even if you debate with Christians based on their own Bible.

Enjoy the show with Deedat, may Allah's mercy be with him. :)

Of course we will have questions after watching this lecture :)

Sorry for the delay.

I was thinking the video was a good one because the way Deedat has explained the things is very interesting and enjoyable. But I saw no reactions from others, and so I think we can go for another book now.

I will take your suggestion sister and we can go for:

So, let's hope we will have some good reading :x089: I didn't read this books before, so this time I have to read it as well before we start the question/discussion session.

With regards to downloading the video: In case it takes long time, I would suggest that you use some programs like "Net Transport" where you can download the files faster and in case you stop downloading, you can continue the next day and so on. It would be useful for you. I have the program and can send it by email as it is a small one.

Why do you look at the number of the replies ??.......look at the optimistic side I mean look at the number of the visitors ….these visitors also get benefits from the course even if they didn’t post replies , I was a visitor to your debate with the one who is called jeywill , and I printed tens from that thread to read the thread carefully , although I am just a visitor , so don’t belittle the huge number of visitors or ignore it
And before all that be sure that Allah is looking at what do you do and he will reward you …..and I think that is enough to continue your course …….

Also the other links are excellent ,the first one shows that the bible itself denied Jesus divinity through some verses from it and also from the Acts of disciples ,by the way what is the different between them I mean the Acts and the verses , are both of them equal ??
Hopping these books concern with the gospels , their divisions, their writers and of course their contradictions (if you like )

I agree with what you have said 100% :) But I didn't mean that if no one made a reaction then it was useless. What I meant was that few have participated in this program through the discussions, so I didn't want to keep them waiting if they couldn't download the video. That's why it was a good idea to go for another book. But I'm sure that in shaa Allah others who view this thread may watch the video and get the benefit from it.

I'm also glad that the debates with Jaywill could be useful for others as well. This is the benefit of posting in a forum as people may still read your posts even after long times.

With regards to the videos, I woul dlike to mention that my start with learning about Christianity was through the videos of Shiekh Ahmed Deedat. And I think it can be useful for others as well if they get a good guidance.

I think all the books are good, but we will take one books at a time, OK? :) Learning is done by one step at a time ;)

I think verses and acts of the disciples may mean the same thing. But the acts can be guessed from the scenes in the verses. Also, the acts might be a reflection of the history accounts. But I need to read the book first then see what exactly is meant.

Salamu alaikum dear brother & sisters,

i have a suggestion regarding this issue.
i mean we are so sure that islam does give answers to the lies & corruptions happened in the previous scriptures, & also you can find it easily in their own scriptures & they can see it plainly that there are many contradictions in their ideas & scriptures.

the question is , they don`t listen to these facts, because they have feelings that they reached when accepting their belief.

yes there are some who gave it a thought & they are the ones who have logic & want to search for the truth.

but there are many who can`t accept the other thoughts or even the right , because as i said they had feelings that their god listens to them & that he is Jesus.

how can you convince such a person?
this is the question

i would like to open a discussion in this topic because really lately i had this trouble, they are reading but don`t listen because they simply don`t want to listen.

Assalam alaykom wr wb,

Because of the problem I explained last time, I haven't been able much to continue writing and posting replies. Though I do like this program very much and I wanted to add a few things. The videos from Ahmed Deedat are very amazing, I have nearly all of them on CD. He is a very great personality and watching his videos always increased my iman.

About what Nour of Islam has to say. It reminds me of the saying "What good serve candle and glasses, if the owl does not want to see." Even if you point out some people about the truth, and you give them every possible prove, they would still not believe, because they simply don't want to believe. It's no use trying to prove someone that grass is green when he/she believes it's red even though he/she can see it with his/her very own eyes... since they claim, seeing is believing. We cannot force them into believing, we can only try and do the efford of giving them the proves, and what they decide is up to them. After all, they can't claim that they hadn't heared of Islam afterwards.
It's no use forcing them, it's better for use to be patient with them and spend time with those who do are open for the truth.

Even if they read about islam, the Qur'an etc, they start reading it with a closed mind and they don't even consider it possible that it may be the truth. They read it with negative and prejudged thoughts and so when they read about peace and respect they think "it's obvious" and when they read about the so-called denegration of women, they think "see, we are read, women are treated badly" even if they read all the verses about respect and rights for women, they don't "see" them. They simply ignore them. It's very hard to get through those thick sculls. Some manage though, with lots of patience and those who have lots of knowledge. But a lot of them already have their mind set up, and aren't willing to look right or left.

Anyway this was my idea about it :) I also wonder how we can manage to make them see the truth. I think being a good example ourselves, might be the best way to make them see.

Assalam alaykom wr wb.

The one who guides other to Islam is not me ,or you …He is the Almighty Allah who guides other , your role is to work hard to PRESENT as proofs as possible to convince the others with their wrongness(by presenting the enormous contradictions in their bibles ,the false claim of trinity that ''1+1+1=1'',the false claim of Jesus divinity ,and the false claim of the resurrection) ,and present to them our right religion convincing them by the reasonable and logical ways such as the scientific miracle in the quran and the sayings of prophet 'peace and blessings be upon him'' ,such miracles –I think –is enough to be an eloquent proof on the truth of Islam

,muslim job isn’t to GUIDE them but to do his best to PRESENT Islam to them

And as the pervious sister has said ,we should present the real picture about Islam ,and do our best to avoiding defacing it

so, be patient with them even if you think 100% that they will not convert to Islam,
who do know ?? may be he doesn’t be a muslim now but he will in the future for the good seed you put it in him

it is normal to find hundreds of people respect your religion…….but they don’t accept it

and it is normal to find hundreds of people who respect your religion …..and accept it

it is normal to find hundreds of people who neither respect…. nor accept

since you met just one category from the pervious categories of people it doesn’t mean that the other are not existed
And as we know that this web site is Alhamdu llah successes in declaring the right islam via mail groups, and many of them covert to islam

Wa Alaikom Assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh sister,

I was quite busy lately, but I have some time to reply to few things.

I think that is a person is not ready to listen, then it is not possible to make a lot of progress. You will mainly be wasting a lot of time with very less progress (If any). Dawah is good for those who are ready to listen and accept. It is not very much useful for someone who comes to argue and waste time.

But this does not mean that we should leave these people. We should try, but we should not give 100% time for them only. There are hundreds of people who are also willing to listen and accept Islam easily, so we can give more time for them.

I remember an advise from Dr. Bilal Philips, and it is a very true advise: DO NOT PUT ALL YOUR EFFORT IN ONE PERSON ONLY. This is very true, try with many people, and in shaa Allah one here and one there would be able to be convinced.

I'm very sorry for the long delay, but anyway, now I'm back :)

The book that we are going through is:
Prophet Jesus (PBUH) Never Claimed Divinity
By Dr. Jamal Badawi (http://www.sultan.org/articles/pjncd.html)

My first question is: It is clear from the Bible that Jesus "peace be upon him" never claimed divinity. But to make things even more stronger when it comes to proofs, it is also mentioned in the Bible by Jesus himself that he denied being equal with God.

Please give me some verses which support this :)
