My daughter used to be homeschooled via an online academy, although recently she just signed up with a rural school here in our small town where we just relocated. Nonetheless, I still greatly value the input from the homeschool communities. :)

Do you mind if I use some of this information for an OSU class that I am taking online? I have a history class that I am taking, which pertains to the suffering of women in Iran and in those topics, it also speaks of Islam.

I found it interesting to learn this viewpoint as I have not found it anywhere else. Are there any website resources that I can learn more on this particular topic? Did you write this or is there another original author?

As a Christian I am appauled at the carnage inflicted upon these Images of God- and all the other Images of God that we slaughter daily in various wars- by weaponry manufactored and supplied to Israel by this country.
As an American and a human being my sense of the rational and just is offended by Bush' defending Israels actions against these poor ill equiped people, and equating barbarism with self defense. It is tantamount to what the Germans did to Ethiopia in WWII- fighting horsemen with tanks and machineguns.

Actually we debated with the eena Muslim fellow for a long time both
privately and on the group. We explained to him that allah is an invention
of men, compared Mohammed to Jesus and clearly showed him the errors of his chosen
religion and the way to salvation through Jesus Christ.
After a while it became clear that it was a case of pearls
before swine so we turned the matter over to God and now I simply rebuke him
when he posts his heresies to the group.

It's important information since we don't get fair and accurate reporting from the media and facts tend to get lost in the jumble of daily events.

Here are some overlooked facts on the current Middle East situation compiled by a Christian university professor:

BRIEF FACTS ON THE ISRAELI CONFLICT TODAY... It takes just 2 minutes to read!
It makes sense and it's not slanted. Jew and non-Jew -- it doesn't matter These are the facts.

1. Nationhood and Jerusalem. Israel became a nation in 1312 BCE, two thousand years before the rise of Islam.

2. Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a "Palestinian" people in 1967, almost two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel . Before that, Arabic speaking people in the area called themselves "Arabs" and saw themselves as part of the greater pan-Arab "nation" in the Middle East.
In fact, under the Ottoman Empire, many of them had moved into the area of Western Palestine (or Israel today) from surrounding areas (now Syria, Jordan, Egypt,Iraq) in the early 1900's, because the increased Jewish immigration had brought better economic conditions.

3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 BCE, the Jews have had dominion over the land for one thousand years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.

4. The only Arab dominion since the conquest in 635 CE lasted no more than 22 years.

5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.

6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran.

7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohamed never came to Jerusalem.

8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.

9. Arab and Jewish refugees: in 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews. Sixty-eight percent left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier.

10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.

11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be between 600,000 - 700,000.
The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be the same or more.

12. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own people's lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey .

13. The Arab-Israeli conflict: the Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost.
Israel defended itself each time and won.

14. The PLO's Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land and autonomy under the Palestinian Authority,and has supplied them. If they would live peacefully, they could have a good life there and could have control over their daily affairs.
But the fact is that without Israel's (and the UN's) continual aid, no independent "state of Palestine" could ever be functioning or self-sufficient!

15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.

You are partly right Henry, but we should also keep into account the fact that Islam teaches us to live in unity. The rebuke which is normally taken as hostility sometimes does come in the way you have stated (a human folly) but sometimes it appears as an apprehenssion of what a muslim brother or sister has done with his/her faith what will they get in the hereafter. It ofcourse makes no sense for the converts or the non-muslims but a matter of conviction for all of the muslim world. We are ordered to like for our brothers/sisters what we would like for ourselves. This kind of make it an emotional discharge. Though I would not deny that going along and crossing the limits for what one feels is not permitted anywhere in Islam.


PS. One can study about it without first becoming a part of it so that you do not have these doubts of not being able to get out of it, because once you study Islam with conviction I am sure you'll not be able to find a more pure way then this.

This may be true, but that concept does not reconcile with the facts. So called Christian countries generally allow Christians to convert to Islam if they so choose without any recourse. But very few Muslim countries permit Muslims to convert freely to Christianity. So to say that the Quran instructs Muslims to treat Non-Muslims courtesouly is not true when the non-Muslim has come from a Muslim family. Thus freedom of conscience for the individual is not respected in the same way among Muslim and Christian nations.

and every verse of the Qur'an speaks the worse as a last resort, were fighting has to be used as last resort, it always says peace is better. If they say peace give them peace.

And if you read Surah Maidah chapter 5 verse 32, Surah Nisa chapter 4 verse 40 it says that -
"If any one kills any human being its as though he killed the humanity"

This is the basic rule of Islam that "if anyone kill any human being whether it be a Muslim or Non-Muslim unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land it is as though he is killed the humanity and if any one saves any human being it is as though he is saved the humanity."

In the Muslim faith a Muslim man can marry a child as young as 1 year old and have sexual intimacy with this child. Consummating the marriage by 9.


The dowry is given to the family in exchange for the woman (who becomes his slave) and for the purchase of the private parts of the woman, to use her as a toy.
Even though a woman is abused she can not obtain a divorce.


To prove rape, the woman must have (4) male witnesses.
Often after a woman has been raped, she is returned to her family and the family must return the dowry. The family has the right to execute her (an honor killing) to restore the honor of the family. Husbands can beat their wives 'at will' and he does not have to say why he has beaten her.


The husband is permitted to have (4 wives) and a temporary wife for an hour (prostitute) at his discretion.


The Shariah Muslim law controls the private as well as the public life of the woman.


In the West World (America) Muslim men are starting to demand Shariah Law so the wife can not obtain a divorce and he can have full and complete control of her. It is amazing and alarming how many of our sisters and daughters attending American Universities are now marrying Muslim men and submitting themselves and their children unsuspectingly to the Shariah law.


By passing this on, enlightened American women may avoid becoming a slave under Shariah Law.


Ripping the West in Two.
Author and lecturer Nonie Darwish says the goal of radical Islamists is to impose Shariah law on the world, ripping Western law and liberty in two.


She recently authored the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law..


Darwish was born in Cairo and spent her childhood in Egypt and Gaza before immigrating to America in 1978, when she was eight years old. Her father died while leading covert attacks on Israel. He was a high-ranking Egyptian military officer stationed with his family in Gaza .


When he died, he was considered a "shahid," a martyr for jihad. His posthumous status earned Nonie and her family an elevated position in Muslim society.


But Darwish developed a skeptical eye at an early age. She questioned her own Muslim culture and upbringing. She converted to Christianity after hearing a Christian preacher on television.


In her latest book, Darwish warns about creeping sharia law - what it is, what it means, and how it is manifested in Islamic countries.


For the West, she says radical Islamists are working to impose sharia on the world. If that happens, Western civilization will be destroyed. Westerners generally assume all religions encourage a respect for the dignity of each individual. Islamic law (Sharia) teaches that non-Muslims should be subjugated or killed in this world.


Peace and prosperity for one's children is not as important as assuring that Islamic law rules everywhere in the Middle East and eventually in the world.


While Westerners tend to think that all religions encourage some form of the golden rule, Sharia teaches two systems of ethics - one for Muslims and another for non-Muslims. Building on tribal practices of the seventh century, Sharia encourages the
side of humanity that wants to take from and subjugate others.


While Westerners tend to think in terms of religious people developing a personal understanding of and relationship with God, Sharia advocates executing people who ask difficult questions that could be interpreted as criticism.


It's hard to imagine, that in this day and age, Islamic scholars agree that those who criticize Islam or choose to stop being Muslim should be executed. Sadly, while talk of an Islamic reformation is common and even assumed by many in the West, such murmurings in the Middle East are silenced through intimidation.


While Westerners are accustomed to an increase in religious tolerance over time, Darwish explains how petro dollars are being used to grow an extremely intolerant form of political Islam in her native Egypt and elsewhere.

IS EVERYTHING AGAINST YOU?


"Their father Jacob said to them, 'You have deprived me of my children. Joseph is no more and Simeon is no more, and now you want to take Benjamin. Everything is against me!'" (Genesis 42:36, NIV).


Jacob had lost his dearest wife, Rachel, when she was giving birth to her second son, Benjamin (see Genesis 35:16-19; 48:7). The other half-brothers of her first son, Joseph, who had been very dear to Jacob, sold Joseph into slavery and deceived their father that a wild animal killed him (i.e. Joseph). They even came with a convincing evidence of bloodstained cloth of Joseph (see Genesis 37:31-35). Undoubtedly, Jacob was still mourning the demise of his dear son when another tragedy struck - Simeon was imprisoned in Egypt for no reason. To compound his distress, the other sons wanted to take Benjamin, the only source of joy for Jacob, as they were about to go back to Egypt, otherwise, they all would die of hunger because of famine. Jacob voiced out in agony: Everything is against me!


Indeed, one would agree with Jacob that everything was against him. However, was everything really against him? Absolutely no! God was working behind the scene to make everything works for him. Joseph confirmed this when his brothers came to beg him for the evil they had done him. Hear him: "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives" (Genesis 50:20, NIV). As a matter of fact, Jacob realized later on the working of God in all these events. He alluded to this in his discussion with Joseph (see Genesis 48).


What has happened to you before, and what is happening to you presently that make it seems as if everything is against you? Have you allowed those events to weigh you down? Have you lost all hope because of all these events? Paul has this to say: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28, NIV).


God is at work in everything that happens to you. Everything is indeed working for you!

NO CURSE, BUT...
“No misfortune is seen in Jacob, no misery observed in Israel. The

sexual immorality with Moabite women, who invited them to the
sacrifices to their gods. The people ate and bowed down before these
gods. So Israel joined in worshiping the Baal of Peor. And the LORD's

As the Israelites were about to enter the Promised Land after forty
years of wandering in the wilderness in their exodus from the land of
slavery, Balak, the king of Moab hired Balaam, a diviner, to come and
curse the Israelites so that he, Balak, could wage war against the
Israelites and defeat them. However, Balaam knew that the Israelites
were blessed people of God and that they could not be cursed. He
reluctantly came to do the evil assignment, though on the condition
that if he was allowed by God to curse the Israelites. It was evident
from his four oracles that the people of Israel could not be cursed.
In fact, he blessed them on each occasion that Balak wanted him to
curse them to the displeasure of Balak. He categorically said in one
of his oracles that there was no curse against the Israelites because
their God was with them. However, he knew another way that the Lord
could turn against His blessed people: sin! He taught Balak to make
the Moabite women entice the Israelites into sexual immorality and
idolatry (see Numbers 25:1-3; 31:16; Revelation 2:4). This made God to
be angry with His people, and 24,000 people died among the Israelites
on a single day. What a curse could not do, sin easily did!
There is no curse, sorcery, divination or any kind of evil planned or
invoked against any true child of God that will come to pass (see
Isaiah 54:17). However, in spite of the fact that sin does not bring
every calamity, it can bring a devastating havoc on any errant child
of God. Satan knows that God builds a fortified edge round His beloved
ones, but he also knows that he can wreak his havoc on any wayward
Christian.
Are you wayward in your relationship with God? You are giving the
devil an opportunity to operate in your life. Beware that YOU will not
loosen the fortified edge that God has built round you. No curse,
but....
